Privacy policy
Flan holds your financial data on your device and nowhere else. We do not have a copy of it, and we cannot read it. This page explains the small amount of information that does leave your phone, who receives it, and why.
Effective August 19, 2026
Who we are
Flan is a personal-finance app made by Henry PL, LLC, a limited liability company formed in Delaware, United States (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Flan mobile app and this website. Write to support@henrypl.com with any question about it.
Your financial data stays on your device
Every figure you enter into Flan — balances, income, bills, debts, expenses, check-ins and the forecasts calculated from them — is written to a database inside the app’s private storage on your phone. All calculation happens on the device. We operate no server that receives it, and it is not sent to us or to any third party.
Two consequences follow, and they matter:
- We cannot see your data. If you write to support, we know nothing about your accounts unless you tell us.
- We cannot restore your data. If you delete the app, reset the phone or lose the device, the data goes with it. Your device or cloud backup, if you use one, is the only copy. That backup is controlled by Apple or Google under their own terms, not by us.
What we do not collect
To be explicit, Flan does not:
- ask you to create an account, or collect your name or email;
- ask for your bank login, and it uses no aggregator, screen scraping or read-only bank connection;
- contain any analytics, attribution or advertising software development kit;
- read your contacts, photos, location, calendar or health data;
- build an advertising profile, or sell or share data for advertising.
Under the laws of California and comparable state laws, we do not “sell” or “share” personal information, and we have not done so in the last twelve months.
Purchases
Flan is free to use, and one payment unlocks the paid features. The payment itself is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never see your card number, billing address or the name on your account.
To know whether a device is unlocked, and to restore that unlock when you reinstall or change phones, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. as a purchase-processing service. When you open the paywall, make a purchase or restore one, RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user identifier, the purchase receipt issued by the store, and basic technical details such as the platform, app version, device model, country and IP address. It does not receive any of your financial data. RevenueCat acts on our instructions as a service provider; see the RevenueCat privacy policy.
Apple and Google also process your purchase under their own privacy policies, and may report aggregate sales figures to us. Those reports do not identify you.
App updates
Flan is built with Expo, and can receive small over-the-air updates after release. On launch the app asks Expo’s update service whether a newer version exists. That request carries your IP address, the app and platform version and a device identifier generated by Expo, which are kept in ordinary server logs. It carries none of your financial data. See the Expo privacy policy.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include the IP address and browser of each request, for security and troubleshooting.
The site loads an icon font from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore makes a request to Google when the page opens, and Google receives your IP address as part of it. No other third party receives anything.
Children
Flan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects no personal information at all, there is nothing for us to delete; removing the app removes everything.
Your rights and your choices
Rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data — under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws — apply to data a company holds about you. We hold almost none. In practice:
- Your financial data is already in your hands. You can change or delete any of it inside the app, and deleting the app erases all of it.
- Purchase records held by RevenueCat, Apple or Google can be reached through us at support@henrypl.com. We will need the store receipt or order identifier to find the record, since we have no other way to identify you.
We answer requests of this kind within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for making one.
Retention and security
Purchase records are kept for as long as the unlock has to be honoured and for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
Your data on the device is protected by the operating system: it sits in the app’s private storage, and it is covered by the device encryption that applies when your phone is locked with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID. Using a passcode is the single most useful thing you can do to keep it private.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will publish the new version here and move the effective date at the top. If a change is significant — if Flan ever begins to collect something it does not collect today — we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
